Check whether the video contains an audio track
A video container can hold pictures without any audio. Play the original with sound enabled first. If the converter reports NO_AUDIO_STREAM, it did not find an audio track; conversion cannot reconstruct sound that was never recorded.
A silent track is different
A file may contain an audio track whose samples are silent. That can convert successfully and still sound silent. Check microphone permission and the recording app settings before making another recording.
Try the supported recording
For MP4, use AAC LC or MP3 audio; for WebM, use Opus or Vorbis. Test with a short recording that you know contains speech. If the original plays but conversion fails, check the codec in the supported formats reference. Do not just rename the extension.

THE COMPLETE GUIDE
Find where the sound went missing
A missing track, silent samples, wrong track and playback problem look similar from the outside. Diagnose them separately before repeating a conversion.
Four cases that need different fixes
Begin by deciding whether the original has an audio track, whether that track contains audible samples, whether it is the intended track and whether the player can decode it. These checks separate capture, packaging and playback problems. A higher MP3 bitrate addresses none of those missing-source questions.
No audio track
The container holds pictures but no recorded sound to extract.
A silent track
Audio exists structurally, but its samples may be silence.
The wrong track
Another microphone or language may be stored in a different stream.
Playback failure
The player or device may not support the representation it receives.
Play the local source with a controlled volume check
Open the original file locally, unmute the player and check the system output device. Try a known good audio file to distinguish a muted device from a silent recording. Then inspect the passage where the expected speech should be. If the sound never existed in the recording, conversion cannot reconstruct that performance.
| File or concept | Relationship | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| An absent audio track | cannot supply | recorded sound for extraction |
| A silent audio track | can produce | a structurally valid but silent MP3 |
Check the first track in multi-track media
The converter maps the first audio stream. A media player may let you switch to a different language or microphone, so the track you hear there can differ from the one converted here. Prepare an export whose first track contains the desired sound. There is no selector to mix or choose separate tracks inside this interface.

A playing source can still use an unsupported codec
Compare the source codec with the support reference: MP4 AAC LC/MP3, MOV AAC LC/supported PCM and WebM Opus/Vorbis. A player with broader codec support does not expand this converter’s accepted set. If an authorized source export is available, choose one of the supported audio variants rather than change the extension.

Test a new capture before recording the full session
Make a short local test with the microphone, system sound and app settings you plan to use. Play it back and check each expected source. Recording controls and permissions differ across devices, so a successful video capture alone does not confirm successful microphone capture. Keep that test before a lesson or interview that cannot be repeated.
Describe the symptom without sharing private media
Useful information includes the displayed error code, container, audio codec if known, approximate duration, size and whether the original plays locally. Say whether no track was found or an MP3 was created but sounds silent. Do not post the private recording or temporary download link publicly; a small synthetic example is safer when a reproduction is requested.
