THE COMPLETE GUIDE
Find the right converter for your file
Every tool in this directory creates MP3 audio. The difference is the input: a recording, a lossless master or a video with a soundtrack. Use the format and the purpose of your file to choose a useful starting point.
Choose by input, not by the desired result
Find the extension of the file you already have. A .wav recording belongs in WAV to MP3; a .mov video belongs in MOV to MP3. If you do not know the format, start with the main converter. It checks the actual media after upload. The tool name helps you find relevant instructions, but changing an extension does not change the media inside a file.

Recordings, lossless audio and compressed files
An MP3 listening copy can help when a device or app requires MP3. WAV and FLAC are useful originals to keep for editing or preservation. M4A can contain AAC or Apple Lossless; OGG can contain Vorbis or Opus. The container and its audio codec must both be supported. Check the format reference before assuming that every file with the same extension will work.
| Input | Supported audio | Useful next step |
|---|---|---|
| WAV | 16/24-bit PCM, 32-bit float | Keep the editing original |
| FLAC | 16/24-bit FLAC | Keep the lossless master |
| M4A | AAC LC, ALAC | Export phone recordings as files |
| OGG | Vorbis, Opus | Check the codec inside OGG |
| AAC | AAC LC in ADTS | Use M4A to MP3 for an M4A file |
| WMA | WMA v1/v2 without DRM | Check that the file is unprotected |

Extract sound from a video
Choose MP4, MOV or WebM to match your source, or use Video to MP3 for these supported video containers. The converter extracts the first audio track and leaves the picture out. An interview or screen recording can become a listening copy only if it already contains a supported audio track. Muted playback and missing recorded audio are different problems; conversion cannot create a soundtrack that was never recorded.

Choose the MP3 settings once you have the right input
The tools share the same output choices: 128, 192, 256 or 320 kbps, with Auto, mono or stereo channels. Start with the default 192 kbps and compare a short passage if you are unsure. Bitrate affects size and encoding quality, but a higher value cannot restore detail already lost in an AAC, OGG or other compressed source. MP3 is lossy even when the input is FLAC or ALAC. Keep the original and listen before deciding to keep the result.
| File or concept | Relationship | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| MP3 bitrate | affects | Output size and encoding quality, not recovery of missing detail |

Upload, preview, download and clean up
Open the selected tool, choose one file from your device and set your output preferences. Files are uploaded temporarily to the server for processing. After a successful conversion, preview the MP3 and download it while it is available; the result window is one hour. Delete files closes access and requests cleanup. A pending deletion is not the same as confirmed removal: wait for the deletion status before treating cleanup as complete.

When a different tool will not solve the problem
This catalog does not include URL importers, downloads from other websites, tag editors or conversions to formats other than MP3. Use files you are authorized to process. If a file is damaged, protected by DRM, outside the service limits or encoded with an unsupported codec, selecting another entry does not remove those restrictions. Check the support reference and the relevant guide first; you may need a new export from the original recording application.
